Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara was renowned as Chavara Achan (Father) and his ancestral home in Kainakary is famed as Chavara Bhavan. Kainakary is a back water village at Alleppey. The spiritual place is hosting a 250 year old important beacon of light intact. Chavara Bhavan is completely surrounded by water and can be reached only by boat. Thousands of devotees gather here for prayers. Living area of the pastor is still preserved as it is and it showcases his simple life. The small prayer area inside the church has a big cut-out of Chavara Acchan portrayed as one hand in blessing position and other with a bible. People sit in this small area and feel blessed. Now a day’s prayers are held in the new prayer hall. A wooden crafted confessional chair used by the pastor is displayed in the church. The elegance and beauty of the chair is pristine even after 175 years. A hidden basement is conserved below the birth place of the saint and ventilators provide a clear outside vision. A small statue of the great father is kept inside the safe house. Houseboat tourists are offered a halt for while cruising. Serenity and blessings is promised to the visitors. There are many best resorts in Kerala which is more enjoyable one. I like this place more and more because of its natural beauty and the greenery. I have been to this place from Surat in the month of the January this month. We enjoyed a lot.
